Sketching in BIM - åben forelæsning
BIM as Collaborative Art and Engineering
Creating and recreating the built environment is the most complex ongoing collection of activities ever undertaken. Computer modeling and information management tools provide new means to improve the
development and coordination of these activities in ways never before possible.
Preliminary schemes can be developed and studied in many iterations to balance aesthetic and social considerations with financial and regulatory constraints. Designs can be developed with greater consideration to all aspects of utility, appearance, engineering and environmental concerns. Construction can proceed with greater confidence and fewer complications through improved coordination and the ability to better anticipate problems before materials are delivered. Buildings, campuses and communities can be more efficiently and effectively maintained and managed with accurate, coordinated computer models providing up to date information. All of these thing are made easier, or in some instances made possible, through the interoperability and collaboration available with BIM methods and practices.
In this session we will discuss examples from preliminary programming through design development to construction management (ongoing maintenance operations will have to wait for a future discussion). These will include community development, school and campus design and laboratory and hospital construction to provide an overview of the ways collaborative BIM practices can improve the entire process of creating the built environment.
